Bahrain International Circuit
Designed by German architect Hermann Tilke, and located amidst the desert, the Bahrain International Circuit is a motorsport venue unveiled in 2004. It is used for drag racing, GP2 and the annual Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Bahrain International Circuit hosts several high-profile events including the FIA Formula One World Championship, Thunder Arabia, Speedcar Series, Chevrolet Lumina Series, GP2 Asia and the GP2 series.
The Bahrain International Circuit was built as per the vision of H.H. the Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to create a unique platform to promote the awareness and profile of Bahrain, and to offer the best facility in stage sporting, business, and social activities that builds increased exposure for Gulf region. Further, hosting of the only round of FIA Formula One Whole Championship over the past six years has helped in placing Bahrain on the world map.
The circuit has six independent tracks, including a test oval and a drag strip. Although it is located in the middle of the desert, the organizers ensure that the sand remains off the track by spraying an adhesive on the sand around the track.
Bahrain International Circuit is open all through the year, attracting more than 8000 visitors every month. During the Grand Prix, the circuit provides employment to more than 3000 people. The Grand Prix is usually broadcasted across the world, and has an estimated audience of 500 million.
Meanwhile, being home to Grand Prix, the Bahrain International Circuit is also launching several new residential, financial and entertainment initiatives, growing to be a major player in the global motorsport and corporate entertainment stage.
