New Industrial parks open up jobs galore for Bahrain nationals
New Industrial Zones in Bahrain, including the Bahrain Investment Wharf, the largest mixed-use industrial development in the country, and the Bahrain International Investment Park (BIIP) which attracts export-oriented projects, are likely to open up thousands of jobs to nationals in Bahrain.
The parks are expected to draw foreign investments into the country, thereby increasing revenue, and mainly jobs.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Hassan Fakhro, speaking during a recent investment forum, mentioned that the long-term industrial vision of the country was focused on high value-added industries and creation of knowledge-based economy.
Last month, nearly $40mn worth projects were announced in BIIP alone, while the next-generation industries are cautiously plotting their next moves. The Chief Executive of Baytik Industrial Oasis (BIO), which leases advanced manufacturing units, mentioned that towards end of 2012, plans for phase two of the project will be in place.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of Bahrain Logistics Zone (BLZ) mentioned that although it has sufficient capacity to handle all business projections over the next three to five years, an additional land is available for future expansion.
Further, German Engineering giant, Siemens, has also opened a multi-million dollar regional engineering and maintenance services headquarters in BIO.
