80 percent of exhibition space at BIPEX 2009 occupied

About 80 percent of the 8000 square meters of exhibition space for the BIPEX 2009 (Bahrain International Property Exhibition), due to be held from 14th to 16th October 2009 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center has been sold out.

The sixth edition of the event, organized by the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) BIPEX 2009, the event is on schedule to be as big as last year’s event, despite the downturn in the regional property market, confirmed Mohammed Khalil Al Sayed, BIPEX Chairman.

Although, it cannot be denied that real estate sector in Bahrain and the Gulf region have been adversely affected by the current global economic crisis, the situation is no longer bleak as was thought to be about a year ago, as regional governments have taken measures to stabilize the markets, particularly, the real estate sector, he said.

The response from exhibitors to BIPEX 2009 is a clear indication about the return of market confidence in the sector, with more than 80 percent of the exhibition space having been sold out, despite the adverse economic turn of events during the past few quarters, he added.

A major highlight of this year’s BIPEX is the interactive technical session being held for the second consecutive year. The seminar will cover topics such as real estate project design, construction, real estate market outlook and the issue of offering affordable housing in the Kingdom.

Among the major sponsors of BIPEX 2009 are Diyar Al Muharraq, Ithmaar Development Company, Marina West, Gulf Holding Company, Al Khaleej Development Company, Scott Wilson, Manara Development Group, First Bahrain Real Estate, Raffa Estate Development, Olive Facility Management, Eskan Bank, Khayami International and Orchid Development Company.
