Riffa walkway to be ready by 1st December
Work on a major walkway in East Riffa is almost complete, it has been announced.
The officials working on the project said that the first-of-its-kind village, will be opened on 16th December, Bahrain’s National Day.
According to Theyab Al Noaimi, Area Councillor – Southern Municipal Council and East Riffa, the park will include games for children, public toilets, sale of food and drinks and street lights.
The walkway is 8 metres wide and one kilometre in length and includes garden with games for children.
The project also has a small area for walkers and includes parking facility for 200 vehicles and is the first walkway for Riffa. A small park with seats and shaded areas also forms a part of the project, including 150 palm trees, Al Noaimi said.
The project will be ready on 1st December, and will be all set for the National Day Celebrations on 16th December, Al Noaimi said.
Al Noaimi revealed that another BD1.5m walkway at Al Hunainiya is also under consideration. It will include a walkway, traditional areas and parking facilities and will be a comprehensive project.
But, there is a possibility of changing the location of the project from Al Hunainiya to Sultan Bin Hamad Walkway. The Royal Court approval is awaited in this matter, Al Noaimi said.
