10th edition of the two-month Bahrain Summer Festival opens at Arad Fort

The 10th edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival has been officially launched at the historical Arad Fort in Muharraq.
Launched by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) as an effort to deliver sustainable cultural seasons for the public in Bahrain, the festival will run until 18th August.

The BACA President, Shaikh Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the opening ceremony of the two-month festival. Diplomats, cultural and media figures, families and children were among those present in the inaugural ceremony.

Shaikha Mai emphasized that the festival is an opportunity to spread the joy from the city of Muharraq, the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, to affirm the deep-rooted cultural value of the city.

In the past years, the Bahrain Summer Festival has made efforts in creating a cultural atmosphere worthy of the cultural status of the Kingdom. BACA is keen on achieving sustainability in its round-the-year events.

The BACA President asserted that the Bahrain Summer Festival is held amidst the Kingdom’s preparations to host 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee in Manama as part of its efforts to consolidate its leading cultural role in the region.

Themed as ‘Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture’, the 10th edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival is returning with a thrilling two-month programme. This annual festival is one of the most anticipated events in the region due to its reputation of exciting line-ups of live shows and multi-cultural family-friendly entertainment. It will be full of various performances apart from artistic activities and creative workshops.

Held in Nakhool Tent at the historical Arad Fort, the festival will offer a range of children’s activities and workshops. Both Nakhool and Nakhoola, the adventurous duo will welcome all the families and friends daily from 5pm to 9pm, except on Sundays. There will also be an exhilarating programme for all ages and it will be open to the public.
