Shop Bahrain festival set to open doors next week

Bahrain is likely to see a huge influx of tourists from next week, as the Kingdom gets set to welcome its largest shopping festival with a unique line-up of events.

Beginning 1 st January 2019, the month-long festival, which would run until 2nd February, will mark the fifth edition of ‘Shop Bahrain’, the biggest nation-wide festival, offering a wonderful shopping experience to visitors and residents.

The mega event will involve the participation of more than 32 hotels, 24 shopping malls across the Kingdom, driving in the growth of tourism and retail sector, attracting residents and tourists from neighbouring countries.

Speaking about the festival, the Chief Executive of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa said that the festival coincides with long holidays in Gulf countries to boost tourism spending.

The event will kick-start the robust 2019 tourism calendar and will include various activities and promotions such as ‘Festival City’ at Bahrain International Circuit, games for all age groups and an outdoor market, live performances and music.

Tickets to the ‘Festival City’ are priced at BD2. The loyalty system would be re-introduced so that shoppers can earn points every time they spend at participating shopping malls and hotels to enrol in raffle draws. The prizes which are more than 73,000 in number includes 11 cars, electronic items, airline tickets, and thousands of instant prizes from Viva and more.
