Work on miniature Disneyland to begin soon
A deal has been signed to make way for beginning work on the BD24mn miniature Disneyland project in Bahrain Muharraq area.
The massive project will include overhaul of the Grand Muharraq Garden, which was scrapped by the councillors two years ago. The work will be carried out by Shuwaitar, who had won the bid to build the spectacular theme park, featuring variety of rides, landscaping and the longest walkway in the country, stretching 1550 metres.
The place will be turned into an extravagant theme park, a miniature Disneyland, with several new rides, bowling centre, international chain restaurants, hi-tech video games, and health clubs, said Abdulnasser Al Mahmeed, the Council Chairman.
The design will also feature the biggest bowling alley in the Middle East, with 45 lanes, equipped to host international championships. Among the other amenities would be the medical centre, coffee shops, restaurants, hotel with multipurpose hall, and three storey car parks with hydraulic elevator for vehicles. Also in the plan are miniature train for transporting guests around the park and 14 buses intended to ferry visitors to the park from Saudi Arabia. The park will also have its own ambulance and helicopter on standby, in case of emergencies.
A small change incorporated in the plan is that the councillors have replaced furnished apartments (motels) with two health clubs for men and women.
The Royal Court has agreed to consider re-naming the park as ‘Grand Hamad Park’, after His Majesty King Hamad, as it is the first government facility that visitors to the country would come across, after leaving Bahrain International Airport, in-line with proposal issued by Councillors last month.
